Work-in-progress style for yesterday’s Gnome – this Sunday kicked my butt and all my plans went out the window.
This will be finished up soon, instead, hopefully as part of a certain challenge….
Sooooo with show prep for Salem NY Faerie Fest last week, I fell behind on this dear Faerie challenge (both in drawing AND posting. Sadface). Here are the last four, not counting yesterday’s Sabbat Sketch, which will be up later today ❤
Twelve. Drawn during the last push of show prep, in gratitude to everyone who helped make it possible for me! Much of my family supported me in terms of supplies, help setting up (and with the prep work itself, especially my Wife) and feeding and housing me, so this was drawn with love for them.
Thirteen. Dragon-fox fae for my aforementioned incredible Wife, who did SO much to make the show possible ❤
Fourteen. Something magic….
Fifteen/ Sunday Gnomedays 6-17-18. Drawn for my father, on Father’s Day! He’s not really a Gnome person, but since he helped me so much for Faerie Fest prep, he gets Gnomes anyway.
Getting myself drawing again now that it’s over has been a bit of a struggle, too – I was not being honest with myself about how burnt out I felt earlier in the week, so even though I had gotten back to work on page 86 of “Tock the Gnome,” no amount of my willpower was making any other work happen. Once I’d admitted that, though, it was easier to start sketching again. Which led to this WIP:
(on a Pride piece for Tock, that is) and then also to proper JuneFae catchup. Which will include the Sabbat Sketch for Litha later, and another JuneFae piece later today too!
Thank you for your patience, everyone, I hope you enjoy these catchup posts and what I’ve shared about the festival so far ❤
This is demanding finishing up regardless of anything/everything else I have going on.
Aaaaaaand since the linework is so pretty, I figured I’d make a coloring page out of it! Please enjoy and tag me ( @rachelillustrates or #rachelillustrates ) if you use it ❤
Also, in addition to being OBSESSED with these two now (I’m fine. Don’t send help) I highly suggest “Celestial Bodies” by AnontheNullifier if you’re in need of a less catastrophic AU of their development. It’s delicious and perfect.
SAW INFINITY WARRRRRRR – no spoilers here, just shipping. I am still dying inside though.
I am behind on MerMay, and I am truly going to do my best to channel my fangirling-angst into my original work, BUT I had to draw these gorgeous idiots before I can get back to anything else responsible.
Aaaaaaand to anyone else recovering from seeing it – be kind to yourselves, and remember that crying is normal.
Sooooo as you might have noticed, my Persephone Ostara drawing is quite overdue now…
But it finally felt like Spring here today – all rain-soaked and alive – so here’s a little progress!
Hoping to finish this up this week, as well as some commission work and “Tock the Gnome” bonuses.
Stay lovely and hopeful, everyone ❤
As mentioned earlier this week ❤
But to recap,
I received some guidance recently, that Faerie wants me to let the bottom half of faerie figures flow out in spirals like this, so this will likely be the first of many such expressions. I’m not sure how often I will feel like that needs to be applied, but I do plan on exploring this flowing-form idea more, at least in individual Faerie pieces.
So now that I’m getting back into the swing of working on things after Gnome and Fairy Fest, here’s a little teaser of what’s coming next!
I still need to be catching up on commissions again (almost done!) BUT on top of that is a project for the restaurant in the hotel I work at – Kilpatrick’s, the only Irish pub in Ithaca, which is participating in this year’s Wizarding Weekend.
This mural decorates the dining room, evoking the Irish countryside. So of course, the head Chef and restaurant manager want to Hogwarts it up 😀 And I am fortunate enough that they asked me! (They’ve also got me doing a coloring page placemat design for the Kids’ Menu, with Irish faeries, but more on that at a later time.)
I’m going to be putting Hogwarts castle on the hill there, of course, and a dragon flying in the background too. Measurements and plans are done for both of those, as well as actual drawing progress on a certain Professor and his ill-fated (but rescued) companion:
They’ll be standing in front of the cottage, of course.
More on this as I get more done! Hoping to be finished with the drawings by the end of the week. In the meantime, please check out the event’s website. Its quite literally magical fun 🙂
