One more post for The Cherry Arts’ “The Snow Queen”

The Wicked Sprite who truly causes all the mischief! He is another of the shadow puppets, and in designing him I tried to pull in some of the same design elements from the Battle Sprites they had me do last year:

And in a less-spritely scene, we had a backdrop of a line of suitors looking to charm a certain princess….

Finally, two houses, as the story starts with! These were the last thing I was asked to do, and I think they came out pretty well (my fellow Ithacans may recognize some of the architecture!).

Today’s the last day, everyone, so if you’re local please come check it out!

And again, so grateful and blessed to have been on this show. Here’s to even more magic and whimsy next season!

Only one more weekend of The Cherry Arts’ “The Snow Queen” this year!

In case I hadn’t mentioned it before, we’re also featuring a coloring book based on the show ❤ It is only available for purchase at the performances, and features 7 new illustrations as well as linework of the design work I did for the puppets and shadow puppets!

Here is the cover image, and two of my favorites of the bonus illustrations:

To see the rest, come check out the show! Only three more performances – Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 2pm and at 7pm. Click here for tickets!

(And obviously no worries if you can’t, but this is perfect holiday magic and I so hope to get to share it with all of you, if I can!

More Snow Queen work again!

This year’s production involves shadow puppetry, which I was lucky enough to get to design as well (and the frames for those puppets, too!). In order to expedite the process, the director filled in most of the space with black digitally, so in designing I filled those spaces with pencilwork to indicate what should be darkened, and what shouldn’t. Linework as usual kept the boundaries and finer details.

These are just a couple examples of the work I did for this section of the story – for more, check out the show 🙂  Click here for more information and tickets! I hope very much that you all get to enjoy it.

Happy opening night of The Cherry Arts’ “The Snow Queen,” everyone!

I’ll be posting this year’s design work bit by bit as the weeks progress! The show runs for the next three weekends, so I hope this inspires you to come out and see the magic 😀

Here are three of the helpful creatures Greta encounters along her journey – a Wild Raven, a Tame Raven, and the reindeer Ba.

Really loving how these came out, and really hoping that you do, too!

As it says, I’ve been busy at work on designs for The Cherry ‘s “The Snow Queen” lately, and since they gave me such a lovely shoutout on the page for this year’s show, I thought I should share again the work they had me do last year!

I’m so very pleased and honored that they’re having me back, not only to use these designs again, but to push the magic even further! I’ll share what I can of that when I can, but for now I hope you enjoy revisiting these – AND if you’re in the central NYS area, please click here to get tickets to the show!

Hope to see you there!

P.S. Don’t worry, today’s Gnomevember will be posted shortly.

NOTE! My original plan was to try and post one piece a day up til opening night….but that’s now tomorrow! So plan adjustment time. Here’s the final design set, and likely a reminder and more info will be posted tomorrow

So (as mentioned before) I have been blessed enough to get to do some design work for a local production of “The Snow Queen” by The Cherry Arts Many many many thanks to my friend Scott Hitz, of Pupphitz, for bringing me on. I’m extra excited and very grateful, in part, because this is among the fairy tales dearest to my heart.

Not to give away what they’re going to be used for, but here’s two more somethings from it
