With some Gnomish plant magic! 🍃🌼🍃
Greetings, everyone ❤
I haven’t been up to posting much this week, due to personal things and prep for vending at Ithacon, so here’s some things that “should” have already been posted.
(Friendly reminder, “shoulding” on oneself is never helpful and I do not endorse it! But I am grateful for your patience.)
Drew this very faerie Tock for self care, and posted it on Instagram yesterday to make note that I have still been creating, though my plans for what I’m bringing to the con had had to be adjusted. I had hoped to have “Tock the Gnome” issue two finished, but there’s not going to be enough time for me to do that well and have it there on time, so that has been changed to Preorder status instead! More on that, and what bonuses will come in the issue, soon.
I will be bringing my existing work and some new prints though, including Prints for Pam-a-Lamb – which are available now, with all proceeds going to the National LGBTQ Task Force.
Fairy Fae Week 7/Sunday Gnomedays 3-10-19
Aaaaaand catching up (and finishing!) the Fairy Fae Week challenge! Day 7, Romance/
Forgotten (how could I not pick the Seelie side again, writing what I do?). So here’s “Tock the Gnome”s Princess Bartelbia, recently revealed in Patreon bonus material, with a love letter!
And one more thing:
“Tock the Gnome” World Building Wednesday 35 – The Orc and Brogh conflict, two stories….
Curious about why the Orcs and the Brogh think they’ve been warring forever?
Thanks again for your patience, and hope you look forward to what’s to come! More on con prep and Tock progress soon.
Sunday Gnomedays will be up later, but here’s some drawing challenge catchup in the meantime!
Went with the Dark/Unseelie side this time. There is conflict in the world of “Tock the Gnome,” out of fear and perceived competition for resources in the Lowlands. This often pits people against people, or individual against individual. But what of the truth of togetherness in Faerie, that which should unite them?…..
(More on this to come, of course, and more on Orcish conflict already in the existing pages of the comic. – free to read, btw!)
Sooooo I joined another drawing challenge on Instagram ^^; “Fairy Fae Week,” with two prompt options per day, one “light” (or seelie) one “dark” (or unseelie). I’ve needed something to get myself motivated lately, and I simply couldn’t resist! Keeping them Tock the Gnome themed as usual, and will be posting these as often as possible but probably in bunches, as usually happens). On-time updates will be available on my Instagram.
Day 1, Free/
For Tock the Gnome, freedom comes from the stories that inspire her! So here she is, atop them, with with wings growing from that inspiration.
(And what are faerie wings but a manifestation of freedom, too?)
Day 2, Dream/
Something dreamscapey, then, with the crew (and a random Brogh woman, who I feel is descended from certain backstory characters). Inspired by my own dreams last the night previous.
Day 3, Light/Dark
For this one, I chose both, and featured it for World Building Wednesday at “Tock the Gnome!” Click here to check it out.
….a prompt to which I say that I don’t exist in the “Tock the Gnome” world (that I’ve been mostly focusing on) but Mariatu certainly does!
She’s been a part of the story since before Tock herself even existed, and certainly stands more for me than any other character (and Misu, for my Wife 💙). She stands for much of who I thought I wanted to be when I created her as a teenager, and much of who I do want to be in the world now. She’s evolved with me, and for that I am very grateful.
So, here she is, in my stead.
The Gnome statue she’s holding is based on the Uppsala Gnome from the books by Rien Poortvliet and Wil Hyugen, in honor of my Gnomishness (even though dear Mariatu ended up Elven! Which, honestly, just shows how far back she goes – but that full story is for another time).
Thanks for sticking with me for another challenge, everyone. Absolutely taking a break from these now. And I hope everyone has a safe, smooth end to 2018, with a blessed and bright start to 2019!
Some catchup, with Elven-Gnomish communication!
Day 14, “Crystals”
I imagine that where the Elves of “Tock the Gnome” live, the caves are like crystal forests.
Day 15, “RapunzElf”
I also feel like those Elves would have a lot more ethereal version of this tale, but I went a more traditional route anyway. So consider this semi-canon, for the comic ^^;
Day 16/Sunday Gnomedays 12-16-18, “Magic”
Featuring some “Tock the Gnome” secrets, not that the Gnome here understands the sense she’s getting!
Catching up, and as it says, including today’s “World Building Wednesday for “Tock the Gnome!”
Day 10, Ice
Day 11, Bard/WBW 23
The first of two parts of today’s World Building Wednesday! About magic and music together for Tock-verse Elvenkind.
Day 12, Ginger bread/WBE
Second part of today’s WBW! Which led me in a much different direction for these Elves than you might expect….
