Orctober 2020 the thirty-first

“Awaken now, soldiers of WAAAGH!!”

(I regret nothing.)

Blessed Samhain, witches, and Happy Halloween to all! 🎃

With how intense this month has been in my personal life, this feels really appropriate to end Orctober 2020 on – it occurred to me this week, that amidst all the chaos (grateful chaos, since our baby kitty man is still with us!) I’ve been leaning heavily on my eternal comfort zone, “Sailor Moon,” and the blessed, manic Orcish energy that is Orctober.

And what a combo that makes.

So, this Sailor Onna drawn to go with Sailor Tock of several years ago:

(Both from my queer steampunk adventure romance comic “Tock the Gnome,” free to read here anytime.)

Virtual high fives and hugs to all who participated in this challenge!! I had so much fun seeing what everyone has been creating (and learning more about Warhammer Orcs/Orks, from all the miniature paining going on on Instagram). Remember, if you followed my “prompts” and completed all three challenges, let me know – and you’ll get a treat in the mail!

(And as for mine – acknowledging that I didn’t quite make every day – I will be catching up to 31 Orcs by including them in Sunday Gnomedays during November – Gnomevember, that is!! Hope you look forward to that, too ❤ )

(Big Important Note! These were both only drawn for fun, “Tock the Gnome” is in no way affiliated with the Sailor Moon franchise or anyone involved with it – though that would be amazing.)

Orctober 2020 the sixth

Something calmly-aggressively optimistic.

I think they’re a former warrior rediscovering the magic of the world and life around them (also, again, in the style of “Tock the Gnome” – though I feel like the swirls in their under-shirt come from the design of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” Sally’s dress, having drawn her recently too 🎃💚).

And since this post is belated, please enjoy this throwback drawing of Onna and Ka’Thagg of “Tock the Gnome” – which may or may not relate to today’s upcoming World Building Wednesday post….. ❤

Junefae 2020 the fourteenth ~ Sunday Gnomedays 6-14-20

Gnomes forever ❤

This was actually drawn during the beginning of social distancing/quarantine – as I attended more and more Zoom meetings, I realized I was making this face a lot. I’m not sure if that was true before, but it certainly is now. For awkwardly better or worse.

I imagine the fae themselves are making similar faces at us, a lot of the time.

Junefae catchup (with Sunday Gnomedays and WBW!)

Catchup tiiiiiiiime! ❤

Posting the first two out of order, in order to bookend the bunch with the promos for this week and last week’s “Tock the Gnome” World Building Wednesday!

Day 3

From World Building Wednesday 91, in which we look at Dwarven smoke bombs – specifically, the ones Actia will be using in the comic proper.

Full post available here.

Day 2

Trollish tea companions are a theme I always love revisiting.

Day 4

Elaborating on the vague faerie shapes I tend to draw around more embodied faerie beings.

Day 5

Fanart Friday too, with Princess/Queen Poppy from Dreamworks’ “Trolls” 💙🎶

I haven’t gotten to see “World Tour” yet, but I highly enjoyed and recommend the first one. Especially if you think of the Bergen as Troll-kin themselves, in the way that Trolls come in all shapes and sizes in other Trollish lore (see Brian and Wendy Froud’s “Trolls.” Highly highly recommend, too).

Day 6

Art therapy, drawn shortly after day 1.

Day 7

And Sunday Gnomedays!!

(…..though, let’s be real, this challenge is going to be at least 50% Gnomes, in all likelihood  😅)

Day 8

…..as I said above.

Also, these are little bee spirits!

Day 9

Acorn energy

Day 10

Finally, caught up – with today’s “Tock the Gnome” World Building Wednesday, in which we’re looking at a physical aspect of prayer to Carwen, Gnomish Goddess of Love and creativity, and Anosmia, Gnomish goddess of protection and destruction!

Full post available here

Hope you enjoyed these, and that you’re having fun with the challenge, if you’re participating too!

‘Tock the Gnome’ page update!

A new page of “Tock the Gnome” is now up for reading!

Read here ❤

Or start from the beginning here ❤

“Tock the Gnome: The Rescue Quest” is about a Gnome woman named Tock, who lives in a Steampunk culture in a high fantasy world. Driven by a Fairy Tale about a trapped Elven princess on a floating island, she convinces her friend Bumble – an airship pilot – to join her quest to rescue her. They hire extra firepower from unfamiliar lands, and together they seek the island and the princess. But what they seek may not be quite what they expected…

Will contain queer characters and romance, size-positivity, Faerie, spiritual magic, conundrums and tomfoolery.
