Issue 3 release note – digital only

Related announcement, since I mentioned this likelihood in another recent post. Stay safe and healthy, everyone, and hope you look forward to this anyway! ❤

Tock the Gnome

Hello dear readers!

As many of you might be experiencing, my state (among many others) is basically on lockdown to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Which means that non-essential businesses have been temporarily closed until further notice.

Which means that my printer is currently closed too.

Which means no print copies of issue 3 until they open back up.

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

So.

Issue 3 will still release on schedule, just digitally for now on my Etsy. It will also be available complimentary for all my patrons, no matter what pledge level, so don’t forget to sign up there for that and for many other bonuses (including World Building Wednesday and WIP shots on each new page)!

As I’ve said before, bonuses and page progress will continue as usual in the face of everything that’s going on too. I hope you’re all staying as safe and sane as possible, and no matter…

Sunday Gnomedays 3-22-20

sundaygnomedays032320_rachelillustrates

Or rather, the 22nd/23rd as I transition to working overnight shifts at my day job (for the time being).

Anyhoo. Sunday Gnomedays continues despite uncertainty and fear!! 💜

I missed posting for the Spring Equinox, and I am finding myself very fascinated and oddly comforted by plague mask imagery lately.

So.

Blessed (Gnomish) Persephone, with healing, comforting lavender and three such doctors. I have to believe that She doesn’t want more of us in Her realm yet, and She is here with us.

(Also, “Tock the Gnome” fans – the coats the doctors are wearing might look familiar from bonus art. Which may say something interesting about the family history of one of the main characters. ….If I decide its canon. We shall see.)

Current Creative Status, in the face of all this fear

(understandable fear, but still.)

Hi everyone 🌼 So as I’ve mentioned before, the massive emphasis on social distancing has led to a couple event cancellations for my art work (and layoffs at my day job). I know I’m not unique in either case, and I send the best vibes possible for us all to be okay financially AND keep creating – no matter how long this takes to be resolved.

On that note, I wanted to talk about where things are for “Tock the Gnome” and commissions.

“Tock the Gnome” page progress continues as normal – as will all Patreon bonuses for the foreseeable future. I massively appreciate everybody who is still pledging, and/but understand if that has to change. I also plan on moving forward with issue 3, but may have to make it a digital only release for now (I’m not sure if my printer is going to remain open). Any changes on my end will be announced as soon as they happen. If you have any questions anytime, please feel free to message me there or by email at rachelillustrates@yahoo.com .

Commission progress will be moving forward too, especially as I have more time at home in my studio! However, if you previously ordered something from me and find yourself unable to pay for it due to layoffs/etc. – just let me know. I understand and am happy to put things on hold. Same email, rachelillustrates@yahoo.com .

Once I get through existing commissions, I maaaaaaay be opening commission slots again. More info on that once I’m sure.

And lastly – look forward to a sale in my shop soon!! Again, no worries if you’re not able to even think about that right now, but any orders are extra super appreciated, in the face of all this uncertainty.

Thank you so much to all. Stay safe and loved, okay?

Two Prayers for Healing — Gangleri’s Grove

A reader asked me late last week if I had any prayers, both to the Norse and the Greco-Roman Gods, for healing in a time of plague. This is what I have to share. Stay safe folks, mentally as well as physically. Don’t hoard toilet paper. Be kind. Wash your hands. If you’re bored out […]

Seven Years today

personal_7years_rachelillustrates

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, especially to anyone who needs light and joy right now.

More personally: today, I am seven years sober.

I don’t talk about my alcoholism much on here – and usually, I try to be more vague when I do, but with all this physical isolation I think it helps to be as open and honest with each other as we can. So – very long story short, my life is very different from where I was in my active drinking. It may not always feel awesome, but I have come so far, and I hope anyone reading this – especially anybody who’s struggling with similar issues, today of all days – tries their best to hang on. It gets different. It gets better. And the pain doesn’t last forever, even when it comes back to visit.

Be safe and careful out there, okay?

And to everyone who’s loved me and supported me on my recovery path: Go raibh maith agat. I gcónaí.

(Thank you. Always.)

(P.S. This picture featuring Queen Arella from my comic “Tock the Gnome,” and a Unicorn for healing, with faerie butterflies for hope. You can read more about Arella in the bonus material on my Patreon anytime.)
